TRADE ⎸ Marko Stojkov Acquired from Vernon Vipers

SHERWOOD PARK, AB: The Sherwood Park Crusaders are proud to announce the acquisition of defenceman Marko Stojkov (’04) from the Vernon Vipers.

“Our goal on trade deadline day was to make our team better, and adding Marko Stojkov does exactly that,” commented Crusaders general manager Adam Sergerie. “He’s a strong two-way defenseman with a great transitional game, and his experience in the OHL will be invaluable to our group. Marko has had a unique junior career, having developed with the renowned Frölunda program in Sweden before playing in the OHL with Flint, and that diverse experience will be a huge asset for us.”

“Not only does he make us better on the ice, but he’s also someone our young players can learn from every day. We’re excited to welcome him to Sherwood Park.”

Stojkov, a native of Mississauga, Ontario, is in his first season in the BCHL. The left-shot defender has collected a total of 19 points (3 goals, 16 assists) in 35 games. Stojkov previously spent time with the Flint Thunderbirds of the OHL, as well as Sweden’s Frölunda HC program.

Heading the other way in the deal are forward Michael Monroe (’07), defenceman Eddie Revenig (’05), and future considerations. Monroe has played in five games for the Crusaders thus far this season, with Revenig collecting 2 goals across his 10 games.

The Crusaders would like to welcome Marko and the Stojkov family to the organization, as well as wish both Michael and Eddie well in Vernon.
