NEWS | FIVE CRUSADERS SELECTED TO TEAM CANADA WEST

SHERWOOD PARK, AB: The Sherwood Park Crusaders are proud to announce the selection of five players to Team Canada West in this year’s World Junior A Challenge.

Goaltender Erick Roest (’04), defenceman Dominic Payne (’04), and forwards Ryan Zaremba, Diego Johnson, and Brock Souch (all ’06) will don the maple leaf as part of this year’s tournament.

“We’re very excited for our players to get such an incredible opportunity,” stated Crusaders GM Adam Sergerie. “It’s a privilege to get this opportunity and the 5 Crusaders going to Truro are very deserving. They’ve been great for us and we look forward to watching them be contributors for Canada West at the WJAC. On behalf of the Crusaders, we want to congratulate them and we couldn’t be more proud.

Go Canada West!”

The 2023 World Junior A Challenge takes place from December 10th – 17th. This year’s tournament is set to take place in Truro, NS, for the first time since 2017. Ironically, that year was the last time a Canadian team claimed gold at the WJAC, with Team Canada West defeating the United States.

For fans looking to tune in to the World Junior A Challenge, medal games will be broadcast on both TSN and RDS, while preliminary-round games and semifinals will be available to live stream at HockeyCanada.ca.
