WEEKEND RECAP ⎸ Two-Out-of-Three Ain’t Bad!

Game 17 vs Salmon Arm Silverbacks

It was a tough Wednesday night in Nisku at Silent Ice Centre for the Crusaders. They welcome the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, who they’d just played the weekend before. Sherwood Park held a 2-1 after 20 minutes with goals from Jeremy Loranger and Malachi McKinnon; however, they struggled to find their offensive touch again. Salmon Arm scored five goals in the final 40 minutes and the Crusaders could only respond with a Matthew Frost goal. The game finished 6-3 in favour of the traveling Silverbacks.

Game 18 vs Blackfalds Bulldogs

The Crusaders returned to the Randy Rosen Rink on Friday night for their Remembrance Day game. They jumped out to a great start with two goals within the opening three minutes from Nico Beaudoin and Nicholas DiPaulo, who ended his six game goalless drought. Blackfalds pulled one back shortly after but Tait Ross scored his first of the season to restore the Crusaders two goal cushion. The two teams exchanged goals in the second and third but Sherwood Park was able to hang on to beat the Bulldogs 6-4.

Game 19 vs Spruce Grove Saints

The Spruce Grove Saints visited Sherwood Park for the second time this regular season on Saturday night. After being tied at one after the first period, Carson McGinley, the newest Crusader, restored the lead with his first for his new team. Spruce Grove tied the game, again, before the end of the period but the Crusaders responded with four unanswered goals to win 6-2.

Notes:

  • Samuel Doyon-Cataquiz made his first junior start on Friday night versus the Bulldogs. He filled in as an affiliate replacing James Venne for the weekend and is signed for the 2025/26 season. Doyon-Cataquiz stopped 29 of the 33 shots he faced.

  • Logan Kennedy took over the crease on Saturday against Spruce Grove and picked up his third win in a row. He now has a 0.922 save percentage this season.

  • Tait Ross scored in Friday’s win over Blackfalds which was his second goal for the Crusaders. He is now up to six points on the season.

  • Late last week, Sherwood Park acquired Carson McGinley from the Vernon Vipers in exchange for defenceman Jordan Gudrige. McGinley is committed to Arizona State and had 8 points in 17 games with the Vipers before joining the Crusaders.
