The British Columbia Hockey League has unveiled its latest Stars of the Week, and Filip Vavro is earning some well-deserved recognition. The Sherwood Park Crusaders netminder has been named this week’s Second Star after a standout stretch between the pipes.
Over his last two starts, the Slovak netminder was rock solid between the pipes, turning aside 25 shots in a 3–0 shutout victory over the West Kelowna Warriors, before following it up with a stellar 34-save performance in a hard-fought 2–1 win against the Cranbrook Bucks, amassing a 0.983% save percentage and a 0.5 goals against average.
