Last week, your Sherwood Park Crusaders announced the promotion of head coach Brennan Menard to general manager.
With the promotion, however, came the departure of our president of hockey operations and current general manager, Adam Sergerie. As announced last Wednesday, Sergerie will be joining the Penticton Vees as their Director of Scouting as the team transitions to the WHL.
“Adam has been foundational to our growth as an organization since joining the Crusaders, both on and off the ice,” said Crusaders majority owner Kevin Love. “The care and dedication he’s put into every aspect of the team is immeasurable. Adam made a positive impact on every person he touched: our staff, our billets, volunteers, sponsors, and most importantly, our players. We couldn’t have asked for a better representative of what it means to be a Crusader in the way he handled himself and represented our organization. I’m personally proud to have worked with Adam and wish him nothing but the best as he moves up the hockey ladder.”
“While we’re sad to see him go, we’re thrilled for Adam and his new opportunity with Penticton.”
Sergerie joined the Crusaders as general manager at the onset of the 2021/2022 season. Through Sergerie’s four seasons at the helm, the Cru compiled an impressive 140-86-15 record, with over 60 players earning post-secondary scholarships. Under his watch, the past season saw three Crusaders named to the NHL Central Scouting’s Final 2025 Draft rankings (Kale Dach, Jeremy Loranger, & Poul Andersen). The year also saw eight Crusaders participate in the BCHL’s Top Prospects Game, earning Sherwood Park recognition as one of the top destinations in Canada for player development.
Sergerie has been involved with sports and education throughout his hockey career. Adam began his hockey career on the ice, playing four years for the Selkirk Steelers of the MJHL. Following a brief stint with the IHL’s Muskegon Fury, Sergerie attended Lakehead University, playing five seasons with the University’s Men’s Hockey Team and captaining them for his final two. After completing his time at Lakehead, Sergerie concluded his on-ice career playing two years of hockey in Germany for Oberliga East, where he was recognized as the league’s Player of the Year in back-to-back seasons.
While at Lakehead University, Sergerie earned both his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees and began teaching following his time with Oberliga East. In 2015, Sergerie was hired as the Assistant Coach of the KC Centennials Minor Midget AAA program, beginning a tenure that saw him earn the roles of Head Coach for both the KC Pats and KC Squires AAA teams. In 2019, Sergerie was named the EMHA Coach of the Year and AMBHL North Division Coach of the Year, earning additional recognition with the KC Hockey Merit Award. His success as a coach saw him earn the role of Director of Coach and Player Development in 2020, his final role with KC before joining the Crusaders.
Adam, thank you for the past four years of hard work, dedication, and care for the Sherwood Park Crusaders.
