SHERWOOD PARK, AB: The Sherwood Park Crusaders are proud to announce the signing of defenceman John Alex Banks (’07) for the 2024/2025 BCHL season.
“We are thrilled to add John to our group for next season. His addition is another example of our commitment to developing young, talented players,” stated Crusaders general manager Adam Sergerie. “We are excited about John, who is an exceptional skater with impressive puck skills and reads the game really well, making him a perfect fit for our style of play. He reminds us a lot of one of our current players, Connor Gengle. John’s commitment to the University of Massachusetts speaks volumes about his dedication and potential. Crusaders fans should be excited about John, as he will be a lot of fun to watch on a nightly basis.
We would like to thank John’s advisor group, Roy Sports Group, and his family for trusting us to be the next step in John’s development path.”
Banks has played the last four seasons with the North Jersey Avalanche program of the AYHL. Last season, his first in 16U AAA, Banks was nearly a point-per-game defenceman, scoring 20 points (8 goals, 12 assists) in 21 games. Additionally, the native of Secaucus, New Jersey was a part of Team Gold in the USA-S16 tournament, where he was an assistant captain.
Banks is committed to the University of Massachusetts for the 2026/2027 season.
The Crusaders would like to welcome John and the entire Banks family to the organization.
