For the first time in 2025, your Sherwood Park Crusaders took to the ice with a pair of games against the Penticton Vees and the Vernon Vipers. Liam Horrobin recaps our first weekend back!
Game 30 @ Penticton Vees
The Sherwood Park Crusaders returned from their Christmas break with a trip to Penticton to face the Vees. It was the fourth and final meeting of the regular season between the two teams, with the Vees leading the series 2-1. It was a goalless first period but once the goals started going in the results didn’t go Sherwood Park’s way. Penticton scored three unanswered goals to begin the second period before the Crusaders could respond with a goal from Lucas Brennan, his 10th of the season. The Vees scoring continued in a third with a couple more goals making it a 5-1 final to the home team.
Game 31 @ Vernon Vipers
The road trip continued on Saturday with a stop in Vernon. Sherwood Park found their scoring touch again in this game beating the Vipers goaltender six times. However, they did trail heading into the third period. Luckily for the traveling Crusaders, Connor Gengle and Jeremy Loranger stepped up scoring a goal each within a minute of each other to restore the teams lead. Loranger sealed the win with an empty net goal giving the Crusaders a 6-4 victory.
