RECAP ⎸ Crusaders End Bandits Eight-Game Winning Streak

Game 20 @ Cranbrook Bucks

The Sherwood Park Crusaders made their second trip to Cranbrook this season to take on the Bucks. In their previous meeting, the Crusaders came out on top 3-2, despite a late third-period push back from the Bucks. On this trip, the two teams were tied after 40 minutes. The Bucks gained the lead twice but the road team was able to get the game level with goals from Poul Anderson and Jeremy Loranger. However, Cranbrook took over the game in the third period scoring four unanswered goals to win 6-2.

Game 21 @ Brooks Bandits

The next day, Sherwood Park continued their weekend road trip with a trip to Brooks, who they battled with in the BCHL Alberta division final last season. It was a tight game in Southern Alberta with no goals scored in the opening frame. Kale Dach opened up the scoring late in the second period which was followed by Tait Ross, giving the Crusaders a 2-0 lead on the road. The Bandits responded late in the third period but that was all James Venne allowed, helping the Crusaders 2-1.

Notes:

  • James Venne got back to winning ways on Saturday finishing the Brooks game with a 0.958SV%.

  • After another multiple-point game on Saturday, Jude Bray is up to nine points on the season and has six in his last seven games.

  • Saturday’s win over Brooks ended the Bandits’ undefeated strike at home.
