Your Crusaders returned to Sherwood Park for back-to-back action on December 13th and 14th. Liam Horrobin recaps the weekend’s festivities!
Friday, December 13th vs. Brooks Bandits
The Sherwood Park Crusaders and Brooks Bandits met for the third time in the last month. The Crusaders got the better of the Bandits on two of the occasions but, unfortunately, they couldn’t make it three times in a row. The Crusaders found themselves down 3-0 early in the second period until Alexander Dimitriadis got Sherwood Park on the board. They managed to score again but Bandits scored another to extend their lead and secure a 4-2 win.
Saturday, December 14th vs. Okotoks Oilers
On to Saturday night and the Crusaders hosted the Okotoks Oilers. It was the Oilers first visit to Sherwood Park this season but the second time the two Albertan teams had met. The first time around, Okotoks won 5-4 after scoring twice in the third period, so revenge was on the table for Sherwood Park. The Crusaders opened the game with three unanswered goals and never looked back. They continued on to score six in the remaining 40 minutes to secure victory. Okotoks countered with five goals themselves but it didn’t matter as the Crusaders moved to 17-11-2 on the season.
