Your Crusaders returned to the ice last weekend for back-to-back games, hitting the road against the Spruce Grove Saints, and returning home to face the Brooks Bandits. Liam Horrobin recaps the weekend’s action!
Game 32 @ Spruce Grove Saints
The Sherwood Park Crusaders took care of business in their return to Alberta. They made the short journey around the Anthony Henday to face the Spruce Grove Saints and sent the traveling fans home happy. After storming out to a 4-0 lead in the first period, the Crusaders dominated their cross-town rivals defeating them 8-4. Eddie Revenig scored his first for Sherwood Park and Masun Fleece scored a pair of goals in the third period to help guide the Cru into the win column. Things got feisty towards the end with the Saints getting called for two five-minute majors.
Game 33 vs. Brooks Bandits
The Crusaders returned home on Saturday night for their first game at the Randy Rosen Rink since before the Christmas break. Their opponents were the Brooks Bandits, who hold down the top spot in the Interior East Division. It was a quick start for both teams with each of them scoring in the opening two minutes. They continued to exchange goals in the first heading into the first intermission tied at three. However, from there on out, the Crusaders were the only team to score with John Alexander Banks and Malachi McKinnon scoring to give Sherwood Park a 5-3 victory.
