The BCHL has announced Crusaders forward Kale Dach has been nominated for the Bob Fenton Memorial Trophy. The trophy is presented to those determined to be the league’s Most Sportsmanlike Player.
“Kale is one of the most honest, hard-working players I’ve been around,” stated Crusaders GM Adam Sergerie. “He plays the game the right way every night — responsibly, competitively, and with integrity. Despite taking on heavy minutes, tough matchups, and playing a full 200-foot game at just 17 years old, Kale rarely found himself in the penalty box. That discipline, combined with his impact on the ice, makes him a standout example of what this award is all about.”
The nomination marks another major achievement in a banner campaign for Dach. With 87 points (22 goals, 65 assists) in 54 games, the Penn State commit tied for the BCHL lead in assists, finishing second in overall league scoring. In November, the ’07-born forward was named to the NHL Central Scouting “Players to Watch” listing, along with fellow Crusaders, Jeremy Loranger and Poul Andersen. Shortly after, Dach was one of seven Crusaders selected to the BCHL Top Prospects Game. Topping it off, in January, Dach was named captain of the Crusaders.
Currently, Dach sits second in BCHL Playoff scoring, collecting a total of 9 points (1 goal, 8 assists) through the Crusaders first-round sweep of the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
Previous Bob Fenton Memorial Trophy winners include Alex Kerfoot, Paul Kariya, and Kent Johnson.
The organization would like to congratulate Kale on his well-deserved nomination.
