Sherwood Park’s blue-chip blue-liner, Erik Kald, has been named a finalist for the BCHL’s Top Defenceman award.
The Merrimack College commit was acquired by the Crusaders back in October from the Sioux Falls Stampede. Since arriving in Sherwood Park, the American has been nothing short of dominant, racking up 44 points in 42 games, including 16 goals from the back end.
Kald’s offensive upside was on full display earlier this season when he recorded his first career hat trick in a 7–4 win over the Okotoks Oilers.
With his elite production, steady presence, and ability to take over games from the back end, Kald has firmly established himself as one of the premier defencemen in the BCHL—and a key piece of the Crusaders’ success this season.
Other nominees for the award are Wyatt Davis of the Alberni Valley Bulldogs and Ozbej Rep of the Prince George Spruce Kings.
