Crusaders Sweep Weekend Home Stand

Sherwood Park had a very successful weekend, winning in both games against the West Kelowna Warriors and the Cranbrook Bucks.

Friday’s matchup would see the Crusaders still hunting for their first win against the warriors as they welcomed West Kelowna to start their weekend. Wasting no time in the first was the Crusaders as just 49 seconds in Braeden O’Keefe would beat Angelo Zol glove side to give the Cru’ the early 1-0 lead. The Crusaders would cap off a great opening period outshooting the Warriors 14-7 however only scoring the one goal.

The Crusaders would end up finding pay dirt again as Michael Mikan would bury his third as a crusader as he blasted the one time pass from Max Ly home to put the Crusaders up 2-0 with seven minutes left in the period.

Sherwood Park would come out flying in the third as Michael Mikan would score his second of the game on the powerplay to give the Cru’ their largest lead of the game 3-0. That would be the eventual final score as the Crusaders shut out the top dogs in the conference, Filip Vavro would earn his second shut out of the season in the win.

Needless to say Sherwood Park would be flying coming into their matchup on Saturday against the Bucks. Much like the previous game the Crusaders would score first as Union College commit, Cooper Sharp, would get his eighth of the season to give the Guys in Green the 1-0 lead thirteen minutes into the game.

That would end up being the only goal of the first period, the Bucks however would end up tying the game up as Teo Pisani would get theĀ  goal as he would bury a loose puck in the crease to tie the game up 1-1, just five minutes into the second period.

The Game would remain a tie game for all of the second period and for most of the third until The Crusaders would break the deadlock when Bode Sampair would pick up the puck on the right wing and tuck one short side on Bucks goalie Josh Scully to give the Crusaders the eventual game winner.

Crusaders now boast a three game winning streak coming into next weekend as they hit the road for their final B.C regular season road trip as they have the Trail Smoke Eaters on Friday and the Cranbrook Bucks on the Saturday.
