Crusaders Steal Game Four

Sherwood Park came up big last night winning game four of their first round  playoff matchup against the Blackfalds Bulldogs.

The Cru’ were able to rally a 5-2 win, tipping the series lead in their favor, 3-1.

Despite the outcome it would be the Bulldogs finding the back of the net first when Vermont commit Danny HUssa tapped home a pass from Nicholas DiPaolo eight minutes into the game to put the Bulldogs up 1-0. Not even a full minute into the Bulldogs having the lead, Braeden O’Keefe would bury home a loose rebound in the crease as the veteran was able to pick up his first of the playoffs and to notch the game 1-1. Both teams would find chances at the net however the goalies shut the door for the remainder of the period.

The 1-1 deadlock would eventually be broken seven minutes into the middle frame when Max ly would steal the puck in the offensive zone and find Braeden O’Keefe in the slot for number 44’s second of the game. Around 90 seconds later Braeden O’Keefe would secure his first career playoff hat trick as he would swing one on net and catch Bulldogs net minder, Oliver Kiraly, sleeping to put the Cru’ up 3-1 ten minutes into the third. The Bulldogs would end up finding the back of the net in the late stages of the second as Dean Toskos would pick up his second of the post-season to make it a 3-2 game heading into the third.

In the third it was the Crusaders again picking up the offense as Bode Sampair would get in on the action firing one home from the slot for his first of the post-season and to re-gain Sherwood’s two goal lead, 4-2, six minutes into the third. As time was ticking down Max Ly was able to bury in the open net to also get his first of the playoffs and to give the Crusaders the 5-2 win.

Crusaders now have a chance to close out the series as the hit the road on Friday to take on the Bulldogs for game 5
