The event, co-hosted by the Vancouver Canucks, featured all 21 teams competing over five days in front of a large audience of scouts and collegiate recruiters, providing players a valuable opportunity to make their mark.
The Crusaders began the weekend with a thrilling game against the Chilliwack Chiefs on October 11. This high-stakes battle went into overtime, where the Crusaders clinched a 4-3 victory after 64 minutes and 21 seconds of play. The win was a testament to the team’s grit and ability to perform under pressure, especially in tight moments.
However, the Crusaders faced a setback in their next game against the Surrey Eagles. Despite a strong effort, Sherwood Park couldn’t find the winning formula and fell 4-2 to the Eagles. Not discouraged by the loss, the Crusaders bounced back with a commanding 7-3 win over the Langley Rivermen in their final game of the showcase. The team’s offensive power was on full display, with their forwards and defensemen working cohesively to control the game and secure a convincing victory.
General Manager Adam Sergerie was proud of the team’s performance throughout the showcase. Despite the loss to Surrey, the Crusaders showed they could compete with the best in the league, and the experience gained over the weekend will be invaluable as they move through the regular season.
