NEWS ⎸ Brennan Menard Promoted to GM & Head Coach

The Sherwood Park Crusaders are proud to announce that Brennan Menard has been promoted to the organization’s General Manager and Head Coach.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as both General Manager and Head Coach of Sherwood Park Crusaders,” commented Menard on his new role. “After two amazing years with this organization, I feel truly honoured to continue this journey and build the Crusaders brand. I am excited to come to the rink every day to work with and for great people together to make this a destination that players choose.”

Menard was hired as the Crusaders’ Head Coach in August 2023 following a two-year stint with the Kitchener Rangers. In his pair of seasons behind the Crusaders bench, Menard has compiled a record of 82-36-3, including an appearance in last year’s Alberta Finals. Under Menard’s guidance, over the past two years, 36 players have gone on to earn scholarships towards their post-secondary education.

Prior to his time in Sherwood Park, Menard was an assistant coach with the OHL’s Kitchener Rangers, earning a record of 63-60-11-2. Additionally, Menard was an associate coach for the Lakehead University Thunderwolves Men’s Hockey Team for two seasons and spent a season as an assistant coach with the Spruce Grove Saints. In 2022, Menard was invited to the Toronto Maple Leafs development camp as a guest coach.

Before his time behind the bench, Menard played in both the AJHL and SJHL, including a one-season stint with the Crusaders in 2007/2008. Menard additionally spent time with the St. Albert Steel (AJHL) and the Fort William North Stars (SJHL) before a five-year career at Lakehead University of the CIS.

Congratulations, Brennan, on your well-deserved new role.
